About Us

G'day, I'm Bobby.

For years I've been pulling coffee apart - brewing it, tasting it, researching it, roasting it badly, then slowly figuring out how to roast it a little less badly. Along the way I've tested a stack of gear, mucked around with different brewing methods, dug into where coffee actually comes from, and written about what makes a genuinely great cup.

This site is where all that comes together.

Coffee's part of the daily routine for millions of Aussies, but most of us never really see the full story behind what's in our mug. We know the beans came from somewhere like Brazil, Colombia, Ethiopia, or another coffee-growing region, but there's a whole journey between the farm and your local café - or your own kitchen bench.

That's where I come in.

My goal is to help fellow coffee drinkers understand that journey - from the seed and the farmer, right through to processing, roasting, brewing, and finally the cup. I cover specialty coffee, brewing techniques, gear, and all the little practical details that actually make a difference to how your coffee tastes.

I reckon better coffee starts with better info. Whether you're learning to brew at home, sussing out your next coffee machine, trying to wrap your head around different beans and roast levels, or just want to get more enjoyment out of your daily brew—I'm here to make it all a bit easier to understand.

I also like to look beyond the cup. Coffee's tied to farmers, communities, sustainability, trade, and all the people who keep the industry ticking along. Understanding those connections gives you a lot more appreciation for what's in your cup and the work behind every bag of beans.

Most importantly, this is a spot for people who genuinely love their coffee. A place to learn, ask questions, experiment, swap notes, and realise there's always another way to brew, taste, and enjoy it.

Better coffee starts with understanding it—and that's what I'm here to help you do.
